Rob Perry taking bookings at the “Touring Exhibition Group” marketplace.

Robert Perry’s unique and versatile Exhibition and Lecture Service is based on his many years of experience as a painter, exhibitor, teacher, lecturer, administrator, traveller and researcher in Britain and Europe. The thematic exhibitions on offer are first and foremost Art exhibitions and reflect his commitment to the historic traditions of drawing and painting. The work, carried out exclusively on location, is characterised by its variety, directness and energy, and intriguing qualities of surface achieved by vigorous combinations of traditional and unorthodox techniques. His unique ‘mobile studio’, packed with highly specialised equipment, enables him to undertake expeditions of considerable distance and duration, to produce large scale work in the field and to work in adverse and sometimes hazardous conditions. The broad appeal which his exhibitions invariably generate are a result of their positivism and “user friendliness”, the adventurous nature of the work, his superb draughtsmanship, the vigour and variety of his paint technique, the range of locations which he studies and the deeper subtexts of his work, human activity and its consequences, decay and renewal, the mysteries of fate, time and space, and the constant search for those elusive clues to the past and the future which can be gleaned from the observable landscape. Key elements in all his exhibitions are accessibility, effective communication and shared experience, achieved by the use of supporting visual aids, explanatory text, maps, information panels, a vast library of slides and the accompanying range of optional lectures and seminars (which are also available as separate, freestanding items). This highly adaptable service is appropriate to all Museums, Art Galleries and Institutions of Culture/Education including a wide range of University Faculties, Fine Art, Creative Studies, Philosophy, Politics, History, Peace Studies, Humanities and the Arts. Although Robert Perry’s exhibitions are emphatically ART exhibitions, all of which are relevant at any time throughout the calendar year, some of his “battlefields” series may be particularly appropriately linked with anniversaries and commemorations such as Holocaust Memorial Day, 27 January (1945) D Day, 6 June (1944) Battle of the Somme, 1 July (1916) Death of Wilfred Owen, 4 November (1918) Armistice Day (Remembrance Day) 11 November (1918). SOME OF THE FOLLOWING EXHIBITIONS MAY BE AVAILABLE AT SHORT NOTICE. INFORMATION PACKS FOR ALL EXHIBITIONS ARE OBTAINABLE BY POST FROM THE ARTIST.

EXHIBITION 6 TWO ARTISTS TWO WARS

This unique collaborative exhibition originates from the close friendship between Robert Perry and Mohsen Keiany. These two painters, coming from Christian and Islamic traditions respectively, with their differing cultural backgrounds and life experiences, were brought together by chance in their coincidental membership of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Their friendship was cemented by their artistic commitment and abhorrence of war. THIS EXHIBITION IS PARTICULARLY RELEVANT TO CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES AND SOCIAL TENSIONS.

MOHSEN KEIANY. Artist’s Statement.

My work is deeply influenced by my Persian background. Historical, religious and cultural themes feature strongly, especially the influence of Sufi spirituality and my experience as a soldier in the Iran-Iraq War. My art can contribute not just to the aesthetic pleasure that people will experience but also enhance their understanding of diverse art traditions and the human condition. My work covers a range that encapsulates spiritual contemplation, humans and the natural world, human suffering and the horrors of war. Mohsen has exhibited widely including Birmingham, London and Teheran.
